CORUS Sports & Social Supports Steven Hopkins Appeal The Sports and scoical club has hosted a V2 band evening and quiz night in aid of the Steven hopkins Appeal. These evening have been extremely well supported by empolyees and club members, and together have raised £820 for the Appeal. CORUS Sports & Social Charity Quiz Night The Sports & Social Club will be hosting another charity quiz night at the club on Thursday july 3rd at 7:30 pm, in aid of the Steven Hopkins Appeal. The last charity quiz nights raised £320 for the Ty Olwen funds. All are welcome. CORUS Sailing Club Hosts National Solo Event During the weekend of May 3--4th, the CORUS Sailing Club is hosting the National Solo Association sailing competition. Boats from all over the UK will be attending to compete at our club. Best of luck to the home crews. CORUS Sailing helps out Welsh Youth Squad The Welsh Yachting Association, Youth Sailing Squad have been using the CORUS Sailing Club to train our Welsh sailors to be the best and beat our English, Irish & Scottish counterparts. Around 50 of the best young sailors in Wales attended these training sessions which are programmed to continue throughout the coming year. CORUS Band Supports The Salvation Army The CORUS PT Band were approached by the Salvation Army last Christmas as they no longer have a band to play festive music in the towns shopping centre as part of their Christmas Appeal. The CORUS Bandmaster agreed for the band to play for them as requested. The CORUS Band played on two occasions and raised £850 & £700 respectively for the Salvation Army, which is a record collection for them. CORUS Sports & Social Supports Cancer Research. The CORUS Darts section held a charity night at the CORUS Sports Club in aid of Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Relief. The evening was well attended and raised £250 for the causes. It is hoped to repeat the event next year. New CCTV System Foils Intruders. Three people broke into the club house on the weekend of December 1st. As soon as they entered the club they saw that they had been caught on two CCTV cameras and they ran out of the club. Unfortunately they continued into the neighbouring area and broke into several properties. South Wales Police were delighted with the clarity of the CCTV Images we gave them which clearly Identifies all three people. A Police Investigation is continuing.
